Bolton duo in England lift

Gary Megson feels it is 'tremendously encouraging' that Bolton Wanderers duo Gary Cahill and Kevin Davies were close to an England call-up. Centre-half Cahill and striker Davies were both considered by England coach Fabio Capello for the recent friendly defeat in Spain.Capello ultimately overlooked the Trotters pair for his final 23-man squad for the game, but Megson has taken heart from the near miss. The Bolton boss believes the fact Cahill and Davies were in Capello's provisional plans for the Spain friendly will prove to be an incentive.Incentive"It was tremendously encouraging," said Megson."I was disappointed they didn't make the main squad, but it's an incentive to keep plugging away."We keep hearing Kevin doesn't score enough, but he's got nine now and is right on the heels of the country's top scorers."And it's only a matter of time until Gary breaks through."
