Didier Drogba: I want to stay at Chelsea

Aston Villa v ChelseaKick-off: Sat Feb 21, 12.45pm; Villa Park, BirminghamTV: Sky Sports 1, Sky Sports HD1Radio: BBC Radio Five Live Amid speculation that a move to either Inter Milan or Marseille is on the cards, Drogba has said he wants to end the rumours and would re-sign with Chelsea. "I would stay if they offered me a new deal," he told the Sun. "I am happy with everyone here and want to be a Chelsea player. "I want people to stop talking about me going back to Marseille or going to Inter Milan. I want to stay until the end of my contract - I love the fans. "[But] I know that first I need to show I am still the Didier Drogba this club knows. With Chelsea I am with one of the best teams in the world"With unfinished business at Stamford Bridge, and desperate to prove Chelsea are not a shadow of their former self, Drogba has claimed the 3-0 defeat to Manchester United at the beginning of the year was nothing short of humiliating. "Defeat at Manchester United was embarrassing," he continued. "Not just for me but for all of us - I can barely remember when we lost a game like that. In the past when we have played United we always gave them very hard game." Scolari infamously used Drogba as a scapegoat for the heavy defeat, and subsequently sent him to train with the youth side. But the 30-year-old says he holds no grudges. He said: "If it makes it easier for people to make me the scapegoat, then fine. All of us were below form in that game, and sometimes, maybe the coach chooses make an example of one player - for that game I was the one blamed. "The only thing I could do was to try harder and make him change his mind."In light of the defeat at Old Trafford, and the recent upheaval in terms of management at Chelsea, Drogba has hailed the recent appointment of Guus Hiddink and is confident the Dutchman can help the club return to its' former glory. He also denied recent accusations from Scolari that suggested he played a role in the Brazilian's dismissal. He said: "He is working us very hard and that is just what Chelsea need right now. "I think with this coach there are a lot of good things to come. He will bring the tactical knowledge and we must fight for a better position - I think we can.""When Scolari started blaming individuals, that was bad. I have respect for Scolari as a man and a coach but I was not involved in any discussion with the owner. If I had as much power with the owner as has been said then Mourinho would still be here."
