Sorry Jimmy Bullard focused on the fight to keep Hull City up

Apology: Bullard sorry for bust-up with BarmbyHull City midfielder Jimmy Bullard says his fight with Nick Barmby could be the key to the Tigers' own battle for Premier League survival. But the ex-Fulham man, who is preparing to face his former club at the KC Stadium tomorrow, has apologised to the members of the Women's Institute who witnessed the veteran pair coming to blows in a park near the Humber Bridge a fortnight ago.The pair ended up in a mini skirmish in a hedge during a warm down, a day after a disagreement between them in the dressing room during their 5-1 thrashing at Everton.Bullard said: 'There were a few words said and it just got out of hand. We did have a little roll around but one thing I do apologise for is to do it in front of the old ladies. It shouldn't have happened and I apologise on Nick's behalf as well.'We didn't see them and anger took over, which it shouldn't have done. But we're fine now, we talked about it, we've shaken hands and got on with it.'With being down in the relegation zone, things take over sometimes. It wasn't much of a fight, it has been taken out of proportion.'Being professional and one of the senior players, you shouldn't do it, but anger just takes over.' Bullard played a vital role in Fulham's survival bid two years ago but three serious injuries have wrecked his chances of making an impact in East Yorkshire. With Iain Dowie now at the helm, Bullard is hoping he can repeat the impact he had on Roy Hodgson's side.He added: 'I feel like I owe the club and the fans. I want to be remembered for what I achieve on the football.'At Fulham we put a little run together and all of a sudden you're right back in the pack. We've had our bad luck and it's our turn for a little run, that's the way I'm looking at it. Knowing the boys like I do, we know we can do it.' Portsmouth 3 Hull 2: Hard-up Pompey are the doom-mongers for new Tigers boss Iain Dowie Hull must keep paying manager Phil Brown as Iain Dowie recruited as 'football management consultant' HULLCITY FC
