Yes, Peter Kenyon is apparently being considered by the club's Abu Dhabi owners to replace Gary Cook at the helm of the world's wealthiest football organisation. A chief executive whose claims about making Chelsea wholly independent of Roman Abramovich's wealth within five years have only been marginally undermined by a £66 million loss last season, and who once professed a lifelong affiliation to Manchester United: surely his credentials to run the club are inarguable. Those who cherish the belief that City is the country's most comical sporting institution are hoping that the rumour is not mere mischief making: Kenyon and City is surely a match made in heaven.
