Arteta dreams of cup glory

Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta is confident that after knocking out Liverpool and Aston Villa they can go on and lift the FA Cup. The Spaniard was influential as the Toffees defeated Martin O'Neill's men 3-1 at Goodison Park on Sunday. Youth team graduate Jack Rodwell benefited from an Arteta corner which the Villa defence failed to clear on four minutes before he added a second himself from the penalty spot on 24 minutes. The 26-year-old believes that the result was made more impressive given the fact that the home side were forced to field a midfield that saw 17-year-old Rodwell joined by Dan Gosling, just two years his senior.Spirit"We were struggling to put our first XI out with all the injuries and the suspensions but the spirit was incredible today," he told the Daily Mirror."We stepped up another gear and we are through. It's a massive game after the Liverpool win but now we want to keep going."This is the only way we can win a trophy with Everton and we have a chance if we can keep on playing like we have for the last few months."Meanwhile midfielder Tim Cahill dedicated his strike, which sealed the game at 3-1, to the people who had lost their lives and the thousands made homeless in the bush fires in his native Australia."When something like that happens it puts it all in perspective. What I did was only little but I'm really happy I could contribute," he told The Sun.
