Simpson seeks starting role

Danny Simpson is hoping to earn himself an extended run in the Blackburn first team. The 22-year-old is currently on a season-long loan at Ewood Park from Manchester United. While he has not figured as often as he would have liked this term, he was drafted back into the fold for Rovers' FA Cup clash with Coventry on Saturday. He is now hoping to retain his place in the coming weeks, but admits that he may struggle to dislodge experienced Dutchman Andre Ooijer as Sam Allardyce's first choice right-back.Simpson said: "I had a good run at the start of the season and I want to play in the Premier League."But the guy who is in my position has won so many caps for his country. He has been around the game for years."He has a lot of experience and with the situation Blackburn are in at the moment the manager is going with him."But I will continue to work hard on the training ground and if Andre gets banned or injured I have got to be ready to step in."
