Cherries: Youth team deserved win says Roach

JOE Roach felt his side fully merited their comfortable win after he watched Cherries' youngsters make their lengthy trek to Hereford worthwhile. In Saturday's Puma Youth Alliance clash, Roach's under-18s recorded a 3-0 victory. Alex Parsons opened the scoring by converting a cross from Tom Green. After the break, Paddy Hester doubled the advantage before Matt Oldring applied the finishing touch to a Murray Holmes free-kick. The winning margin could have been even better for Cherries, had Tom Strong not missed a second-half penalty after Jayden Stockley had been pushed. The pitch was heavy, thick and difficult to keep your feet on, said Roach. And there is always a wind down the pitch because of the racecourse. We worked for the past couple of weeks on a change of emphasis for the lads' development and we felt they produced that. In the second half, we totally dominated the game and were pleased with the scoreline and to keep a clean sheet as well. Roach added: We left at 7am and got back at 6pm. It's not nice to come back after a poor result, so we were pleased. Cherries: Murphy, Bell, Stephenson (Strugnell, 63), Oldring, Hester, Green (Strong, 70), Magookin, Hill, Holmes, Kemble (Stockley, 55), Parsons.
