When exactly will Chelsea win the Premier League title?

Okay, let’s all just admit it – Chelsea are going to win the Premier League. Seven points clear of Arsenal at the top of the table with a game in hand, it’s not a question of if Chelsea will clinch the title, but when. So when will it be then? We’ve taken a look at the fixtures, and we reckon we’ve worked it out… April 11/12 Burnley v Arsenal QPR v Chelsea Man Utd v Man City We can’t see anything other than wins for Chelsea and Arsenal against relegation-threatened opponents, while a draw in the Manchester derby seems the safest bet. April 18/19 Chelsea v Man Utd Man City v West Ham With Arsenal in FA Cup action, Chelsea have the chance to stretch their lead even further – and we reckon that’s exactly what they’ll do. United may be in form, but their defence still looks very frail and we expect Jose Mourinho to take full advantage. City, meanwhile, should beat a woefully out-of-form West Ham. April 25/26 Man City v Aston Villa Everton v Man Utd Arsenal v Chelsea It’s Wenger v Mourinho at the Emirates, and the Frenchman’s notoriously poor record in encounters between the pair means you’d be crazy to go for anything other than a Chelsea win. Meanwhile, City should overcome an increasingly desperate Aston Villa, while United will surely take three points off Everton, who have nothing much left to play for. April 29 Leicester v Chelsea It’s bottom (currently bottom, anyway) versus top in Chelsea’s game in hand, carried over thanks to the Capital One Cup final, and even the most wildly optimistic Foxes fan would struggle to predict anything other than a win for the visitors. That victory puts Chelsea 12 points clear with only 12 points to play for, and on the brink of the title… May 2/3/4 Man Utd v West Brom Chelsea v Crystal Palace Tottenham v Man City Hull v Arsenal Crystal Palace have been nothing short of rampant under Alan Pardew, but this is surely a step too far. Chelsea take the three points and with it secure the league title. (Sang Tan/AP) Elsewhere there are wins for the other three teams, but who really cares? Fans of the other three teams, probably. End of the season For the record, here’s the end-of-season table as we envision it. We’ve possibly been a bit kind to Manchester City given their current form, but that’s not really the point. The point is, when will Chelsea win the league? Sunday, May 3. Put it in your diary.
