Bruce - Signings must settle

Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce knows it is essential his new signings hit the ground running after a changing of the guard in the winter transfer window. Bruce saw key men Emile Heskey, Wilson Palacios and Ryan Taylor depart in the mid-season market, while Henri Camara and Kevin Kilbane also left. The Latics have brought in on-loan striker Mido, Hugo Rodallega, Charles N'Zogbia and Ben Watson as a replacements and Bruce is hoping the quartet settle quickly.Seventh-placed Wigan host Fulham, who sit two positions below, at the JJB Stadium on Saturday and Bruce is eager for form on a par with a positive first half of the campaign in the Premier League.Strong"We are very pleased with what we have done (in the transfer window) but the proof will be in the pudding," he said."We've lost some big players but we are delighted with what we have done and I hope we are equally strong."But when you have made so many changes you hope they hit the ground running. It is all right writing names on teamsheets but can they settle quickly?"If we can go and beat Fulham, instead of looking over our shoulder we can maybe look up with 13 games to go."There is now a little expectation as people look at Wigan and realise we are a decent outfit."
