Arteta's Spain frustration

Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta does not understand why he has failed to receive a call-up to the Spanish national side. The 26-year-old has represented his country at U21 level but is yet to win a cap as a senior international despite his impressive performances in the Premier League.Arteta is bitterly disappointed he has been overlooked by head coach Vicente Del Bosque ahead of Spain's clash with England on Wednesday night."I have asked myself seven million times why I have never been called into the Spanish team when I was doing very well at Under 21 level," he told Everton's official website.Dream"I do not understand it and it is something I hope to overcome someday. It would have been a great dream to play against England in Seville. "I still look forward to the call one day and my dream as a footballer is to still get selected for my country." The Basque player believes there is still plenty of time left in his career to become a member of the Spain squad."I can still grow as a player," he added. "In the four years here I have managed to improve and evolve in many other aspects and I hope to continue to refine because I still think I have eight or ten years left."
