Liverpool's Andriy Voronin linked with Anfield return to replace Robbie Keane

The 29-year-old striker was loaned out to Hertha Berlin when the Republic of Ireland captain joined Liverpool last summer, but in light of his departure Rafael Benitez's striking options have been reduced, creating an opportunity for Voronin to return. "I know my agent has talked with Liverpool," he said "I still have a contract there, and now Keane has been sold. "Before he came last summer I was playing regularly under Benitez. With Keane gone Liverpool don't have many strikers again."Hoping his future is cleared up as soon as possible, Voronin said he would prefer to stay where he is, admitting he previously found it hard to settle himself and his family in England. "I would happily remain here," he continued. "I like it here as do my wife and children - I just want clarity as soon as possible."In the one season Voronin played under Benitez at Liverpool he scored five goals in 19 league matches. Aside from this brief stint in the Premier League, he has spent the majority of his career playing in the Bundesliga. Should Voronin return to Anfield, he would join Fernando Torres up front. Since scoring the last-minute winner against portsmouth at the weekend, the Spaniard has rubbished suggestions that Liverpool are no longer a threat to Manchester United in the race for the title, having drawn six of their last 10 games. Insisting that optimism in essential in sustaining a winning environment, Torres said: "We began very well and at the moment we're going through a period which isn't the best. Maybe it's just that we're stifled by lesser teams. "You can be pessimistic and think we have been knocked out of the cup, or you can think positively - which is what I do. "We are fighting for the league, we're in the last 16 of the Champions League - on the whole we are better than previous years."
