Hull manager Phil Brown hopes to bring in two new players to arrest slump

Brown has already brought in three new players this month, in an attempt to arrest his side's faltering Premier League campaign.Having acquired the services of midfielder Jimmy Bullard, winger Kevin Kilbane and striker Manucho, Brown has now turned his attention to another forward and a defender. He admits another deal is unlikely to be secured before Saturday's game against West Bromwich but there is hope of beating the deadline.Brown said: "We still want to bring a striker in, someone who's a bit different from what we've got."These things take time but hopefully by Feb 2 we'll have one or two more in."We have got interest in a defender and there is just some negotiations to be done."Where a striker is concerned we have made inquiries but it is falling on deaf ears at the moment."Brown has not disclosed names and denied interest in Roma defender Christian Panucci, Barcelona striker Eidur Gudjohnsen and Derby midfielder Giles Barnes.Hull completed one piece of business on Friday by signing defender Steven Mouyokolo, 22, from French Second Division side Boulogne, on a four-year deal from this summer.Brown rates him as a pacy centre-back who can play in any position across the back four.Hull's form has become a serious concern with the Tigers having won just once in 14 league outings and lost their past six. They remain 10th in the table but are just six points above the bottom three having been stuck on 27 since Dec 13.Brown admits the current run has influenced his transfer policy."The form we are in has affected the business we were going to do," he said."If we had got into the 30s, points-wise, we may not have spent as much as we have but that is life."
