Whelan starts for Darlington

Striker Noel Whelan is a surprise inclusion in the Darlington team for today's game with Barnet. Since signing in October the veteran former Middlesbrough forward has made been struggling with a hamstring injury. Both of his two appearances have been aborted due to injury, so today he aims to make it third time lucky against the Bees. Whelan is one of three changes to the Darlington side which lost 2-0 at Northampton last week. Recalled is Ross Chisholm while winger Chris Moore makes his first start. Dropped are Mor Diop, Gary Dempsey and Curtis Main. Due to heavy rain this morning the game was in doubt and only received the go-ahead after an inspection by referee Chris Sarginson.
