Cesc Fabregas isn't as good as people think he is

Cesc Fabregas has certainly been a great player for Chelsea this season. He is the league’s assist leader and has proven he can also contribute in defence as Jose Mourinho’s combative style demands. Some people have also gone on to name him as Chelsea’s best signing and even the league’s player of the season. However, the Spaniard seems to have one consistent and definitely undesirable characteristic. He is a half a season wonder. For the past six seasons, Fabregas’ starts to seasons have been at least decent sometimes even great but with time, the form dwindles markedly even to the point of being non-existent. The stats below courtesy of Opta stats tell the story. Some will probably say he has already contributed his fair share to the season but certainly the very best should be able to last a lot more than half a season.
