Railwaymen sign Dolly Blues striker.

Crewe have signed Lancaster City striker Jordan Connerton on a three-year deal after an undisclosed fee was agreed with the Unibond First Divison Northern club. 20-year-old Connerton had been on trial with the Railwaymen for a few weeks and has impressed the management team at the club. Connerton has already scored 35 goals this season shooting Lacnaster City to the top of the Unibond First Division North and just one point ahead of FC Halifax Town. Although Connerton is being loaned back to the Dolly Blues until the end of the season and hoping he can shoot his team in to the Unibond Premier League. Lancaster born Connerton made his debut for his home town at the age of 16 and he has also had a short spell at Kendal Town and rejoined the club last summer. Connerton's goal scoring exploits had attracted interest from Morcambe, Bury, Leeds United and SPL side Motherwell but it is Crewe that have won the race to sign the promising striker up for a significant sum.Crewe boss Dario Gradi told the official site "Jordan is going to sign and we are offering him a 3-year deal. There is little point giving him a deal until the end of the season because that won't give him enough time to improve. "If you give him a year then he is thinking about renewing again next summer, so this gives him a bit of time to develop. He is a player we have known about for a while and Neil (Baker) has wanted to sign him for a while. "I wanted to watch him in action and I managed to do that on Tuesday. Sometimes you have to back to judgement and we have with Jordan. Neil gets the credit because he has liked the lad fora while. "He is a bit different to what we have got here because he doesn't face up all the time. He is always looking for space and those runs in behind. His movement and anticipation is good and he will benefit from full-time training."He is one for the future and will need a bit of time. I don't think he would be in the team this season and I think he will go back on loan to Lancaster because they are going for promotion, I am happy with that and I am pleased that he will become our players because there was interest from elsewhere."
