This footballing A-Z is a thing of beauty

Illustrator Steve Welsh has come up with his A-Z of football – and the game has never looked so beautiful. Each letter of the alphabet is represented by a different player – not the best, says Middlesbrough fan Welsh, just the ones that particularly appeal to him. Finally completed my A-Z project, here's the full set in case you missed any – pic.twitter.com/FqixdYh28r — Steve Welsh (@miniboro_dotcom) March 4, 2015 That explains why you have Paul McGrath rather than Lionel Messi, Pippo Inzaghi rather than Pele and Carlos Valderrama ahead of Marco van Basten. And it was no easy task for Welsh to choose – it seems Pele hardly got a look-in for P. Or Michel Platini. Or Ferenc Puskas for that matter… With that in mind, what do people think for the letter P – Pippo or Psycho? – pic.twitter.com/Exr5ON9nXO — Steve Welsh (@miniboro_dotcom) December 16, 2014 The letter B posed a particular problem. Of course the downside to all of this, is that I've got to choose between these two fellas for my final A-Z series – pic.twitter.com/nQpO7SzJU4 — Steve Welsh (@miniboro_dotcom) January 16, 2015 B is for Brolin if you ask us. Ultimately though, we think he made some amazing choices. Check out more of Welsh’s work on his website.
