No Mexican wave from Eriksson as Sven rules out taking over at Pompey

No go: Sven won't be taking charge at Fratton Park Former England and Manchester Citymanager Sven Goran Eriksson has moved to distance himself from the vacant managerial post at Portsmouth. The Swede has said that he intends to fulfil his current contract with Mexico until after the 2010 World Cup.   After Tony Adams was sacked as Portsmouth manager on Monday Eriksson has been strongly linked with the post along with former Chelsea boss Avram Grant.   Eriksson is currently preparing Mexico for the opening game of the final round of World Cup qualifiers against the USA in Columbus.   'I always said I have contract until 2010, after the World Cup. In football, you never know what will happen but I have a contract and I want to win tomorrow. I have always said that Mexico will be in South Africa,' said Eriksson.   'It's very important to start winning but I don't think that my future depends on getting a good result tomorrow, life will go on. If we lose, we will have nine more games to qualify to the World Cup. But I repeat: I'm not thinking about a defeat.'Chelsea are also in the search for a new manager following the departure of Luiz Felipe Scolari also on Monday, although Russia coach Guus Hiddink has started negotiations over taking charge until the end of the season.   Eriksson did confirm Chelsea's Russian billionaire owner Roman Abramovich does have his phone number,   'I know he has my number and I certainly haven't spoken with him,' added Eriksson.   After England were knocked out of the 2006 World Cup, a year later Eriksson took over as Manchester City boss prior to the start of the 2007/08 season.   But he lasted just one season in charge and on June 2 last year left City 'by mutual consent' before being named as Mexico manager just a day later.  Five big problems facing the new men at Chelsea and PortsmouthPortsmouth aiming for talks with Mexico boss Eriksson after World Cup qualifier Look who Sir Alex has seen off in his time: The 923 who have come and gone.SIX OF THE BEST: The contenders to replace Tony Adams at PortsmouthPORTSMOUTH FC NEWS FROM ACROSS THE NET
