8 struggles Martin Odegaard will never have to face at 16

Martin Odegaard has today signed for Real Madrid, at just 16 years old, and is reported to be on around £80,000 a week. It seems that the Norwegian’s signing has alerted some people to the fact that life is, actually, quite unfair. So, what was the average person doing at 16? 1. Posting Facebook statuses At 16, Odegaard signed for RMCF on 80k a week. When I was 16 I was posting status' on Facebook like this. I win. pic.twitter.com/8cHYXUUidx — Billy Huyton (@Bubbbbaaaa) January 22, 2015 We imagine Martin still posts Facebook statuses, and Instagram, and everything else. But now, they’re probably a bit more like this. Although, technically he’s still two years below Spain’s legal drinking age. 2. Making ends meet Odegaard is apparently on 80 grand a week….when I was 16 I was selling fags at school and making 40 quid a week😳😅 #contrast — Marky (@Yorkstonn) January 22, 2015 Martin will never know the struggles of selling stuff at school, whether it be sweets or, like this guy, fags. 3. Trying to get out of going to school Odegaard is 16 and signed for Real Madrid. When I was 16 I could not even sign to leave school if I felt sick — Tancredi Palmeri (@tancredipalmeri) January 21, 2015 Remember the days when you’d go to the nurse suffering some excruciating pain (or pretending to), only to be given milk of magnesia and sent back to class? Martin Odegaard doesn’t. 4. Playing PlayStation When I was 16 years old, I had PS3 not 80k per week. 😢 — Cristiano Ronaldo (@RMadridFever) January 22, 2015 To make you feel a little bit worse, Martin probably has a PS3 AND all that money. Of course, the PS3 hasn’t been touched since he bought his PS4. 4. Being alive If I was on 80k a week when I was 16 I wouldn't have seen 18. — Stephen Hannah (@stephenhannah24) January 22, 2015 It’s a good point. Would you even have made it to your 18th birthday if you had all that to spend every week? Debatable. 5. Working for pitiful wages £80,000 a week at 16? Wtf? When I was 16 I was working at sports direct for £3.68 an hour selling crap shoes to pay for a bus pass — Harry Fitzjohn (@harry_fitzjohn) January 22, 2015 Remember your friend who worked at Sport & Ski for a microscopic wage, and you never understood why when there were plenty of places offering more? Martin Odegaard doesn’t. 6. Eating Freddos So that Odegaard yout is getting £80,000 a week at 16 years of age. When I was 16 I was stealing Fredos and Haribos from the corner shop — Petey Pablo (@SelenksDJ) January 22, 2015 We don’t know how much a Freddo is these days, but back when they were 10p Martin would have been able to buy… A LOT of them. So much so that he probably wouldn’t be considered the “next Messi”. 7. Being 16 When I was 16 years old, I was 16 years old. — Alex. (@AW430) January 22, 2015 This one’s quite self explanatory. 8. Actually, living quite well Odegaard's 16 and he's on £80k a week – when I was 16 I was living a comfortable middle-class existence in a first-world country haha unreal — Toby Maxtone-Smith (@TRMaxtoneSmith) January 22, 2015 Life isn’t all that bad. Think about it, never mind that you didn’t earn that much money when you were 16 – you probably won’t earn that much money ever.
