OG Ronaldo wins big at major poker event

Not content with being one of the best strikers in history, Ronaldo is now proving he’s no slouch when it comes to poker either. The former Brazil star claimed a prize of $42,180 (£27,944) at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event, coming 26th in a field of 816 (top 4%) which included some of the world’s best players. He said: “I’m really excited. it’s the same emotion I used to have at the soccer fields playing at the highest level. The experience has been great, my first goal was to get a prize in a big tournament and I achieved that.” The 38-year-old also broke a record in the process, going further than any other sports star in the history of the PCA as he beat golfer Sergio Garcia’s previous best of 52nd. The Spaniard didn’t seem to mind too much – he was among many people who tweeted his support as the player’s run continued.
