O'Driscoll content with PNE point

Rovers had the better of the first half at Deepdale and took a deserved lead through James Hayter's 28th-minute strike.Neil Mellor got Preston back on level terms three minutes before the interval before Sharp saw his 55th-minute spot-kick saved by Andy Lonergan.O'Driscoll said: "We've had two away games in four days at Bristol City and Preston and we've got four points. I'd have taken that at the start of the week."Our goalkeeper has made a couple of saves in the second half where Preston have counter-attacked us."I'm disappointed because we had the chance with the penalty to get our noses in front again but this is a difficult division and if everything happened as you would want it to it wouldn't be so tight."Results like we had on Saturday (a 5-2 win at Bristol City) don't come along too often, but I thought with the way we played in the first half we could have been out of sight."On Lonergan's stop, O'Driscoll added: "He made a fantastic save in the first half from Gareth Roberts as well, so he's earned his money."Billy will be disappointed with missing the penalty. Goalscorers want to score goals so he'll be a sulky boy on the way home. But he's been terrific for us. He's our top goalscorer, a bubbly character and he'll bounce back on Saturday I'm sure."Opposite number Darren Ferguson felt his side should have claimed all three points after finishing the stronger."In the end we should have won it," he said. "In the last 10 minutes or so we had three outstanding chances."The substitutes gave us a lot more energy and in the second half it was a much better performance. They caused us problems in the first half but we got back in the game straight on half-time and in the second half, on chances, I feel we should have won it."It was a really good game of football, an exciting game, but I'm disappointed because you want to win your home games."Ferguson was unhappy with the performance of referee Phil Crossley and questioned the award of Doncaster's penalty, which O'Driscoll admitted was "soft"."I was a long way away from it, but I was amazed," added the Preston boss. "I'd have to see it again but I think Sean was gobsmacked as well."I think the referee got put under a bit of pressure at half-time. They (Doncaster) felt they should have had a penalty and he's given one, but two wrongs don't make a right. The referees have got to stay strong."Ferguson was also baffled as to how Rovers full-back James Chambers remained on the pitch after tripping Paul Coutts when on a yellow card."How the lad's not been sent off is an absolute disgrace, a complete disgrace. It drives you mental," he moaned. "You don't want to come out after games and keep talking about referees but it was a disgraceful decision."If he hadn't have been booked already, the referee would have booked him and that would have changed the game."
