Staunton: Football is a cruel game

Mark Ellis and Eunan O'Kane put the visitors two up before Curtis Main pulled a goal back for the Quakers, but Mustapha Carayol made sure of the Gulls' victory late on."I couldn't believe that we were two goals down at half-time," said Staunton. "They had two shots and scored, we had twice as many and although they were only half chances we got into the right positions."Football can be a cruel game at times. But we didn't make their keeper work enough. I can't fault the players for their effort and commitment. They gave it their all and kept going right to the end."The second goal was crucial. It was a poor shot that was miss-hit and seemed to catch the lad on his heel."If that had happened at the other end of the field their keeper would have collected the ball. But that's the way our luck has been going lately."
