Torosidis joins Roma casualty list

Roma defender Vasilis Torosidis has been sidelined after being diagnosed with a calf strain, the Serie A club said Thursday.A statement from Roma said: "Earlier today, Vasilis Torosidis underwent medical tests that revealed a grade-one strain to his right calf."The player has already started treatment on the injury."A grade one is the least severe kind of strain, and usually requires one to two weeks recovery.Torosidis joins fellow defenders Maicon, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and Leandro Castan on Roma's casualty list.The Serie A title challengers sit three points behind Juventus in Italy's top flight ahead of Sunday's home clash with Inter.Roma also remain in contention for a place in the last 16 of the Champions League despite a 1-1 draw away to CSKA Moscow on Tuesday.The Giallorossi sit second in Group E behind already qualified Bayern Munich, but have the same points as Manchester City and CSKA ahead of their final group game against City in Rome next month.
