Broadfoot targets Scotland recall

Levein takes charge of his first game when Czech Republic come calling at Hampden on Wednesday night but there was no place for Broadfoot in the gathering. The Rangers full-back is back in action after spending nine months on the sidelines with a foot problem and knows an international return is probably too soon for him.He earned three caps - and scored on his debut - during the previous George Burley regime and has targeted a return to the national fold once back on top form.He said: "You could say it's a disappointment but I've only been back for two months and I think people forget that I was out for nine months."To be back for just two months, it's maybe a little early to be chapping on the Scotland door."But I'll keep working away, digging in and try to get a run of games and try to impress the Scotland manager and hopefully for the big games that come up in the qualifiers I'll be involved."Rangers team-mate Kris Boyd will start on the bench 18 months after he refused to considered for selection while Burley was at the helm. And, although his return may split the Tartan Army, Broadfoot sees no reason why Levein would not have the prolific striker in his squad. He told Rangers News: "There's no getting away from the fact that Scotland missed Kris Boyd when he wasn't playing."We do need a goalscorer and, with the form that he has been in this season, why wouldn't we want him to be playing with Scotland?"
