Fresh Troops at Manchester United?

Louis Van Gaal is not a man to waste a moment of his time. As the newly appointed manager of Manchester United, Van Gaal has already added defender Luke Shaw and central midfielder Ander Herrera to his squad. All of this while managing the Netherlands to a third place finish in the World Cup. Now this, for some clubs, would be considered a successful summer transfer market but Van Gaal has not stopped there. He looks to finalize the transfer of Arsenal central defender Thomas Vermaelen and he is still chasing after Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal. Vermaelen has already agreed to a deal in principle to join United. The only thing standing in the way is for United and Arsenal to agree on the fee. As for Vidal, United continue to pressure Juve in their pursuit of the Chilean midfielder. With the resent resignation of the Juventus boss, Antonio Conte, United are now poised to finally land Vidal. Van Gaal is a big fan of Vidal’s. In 2011, Van Gaal, while in charge of Bayern Munich, tried to lure Vidal to the Bundesliga champions. Rumors have the price at around £30m to £35m to land the powerful midfielder. There is one more addition that may come United’s way in the form of World Cup champion, Mats Hummels. With Vermaelen already looking to be locked up, could Hummels be the final piece to replace the once dynamic duo of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic? There may be an issue here though; Barcelona are interested in Hummels and look to steal him away before United can sign him. It looks that United learned a valuable lesson last year after a terrible summer transfer market; if you have the money, you better spend it and Louis Van Gaal does not look like a man afraid to spend.
