PSGs Leonardo awaits final court decision

Former Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo will learn within the "next fortnight" whether his 14-month suspension imposed by the French Football Federation (FFF) will finally be overturned.The Brazilian won an original appeal in October as his ban was provisionally lifted but was in court here on Friday as he sought to bring a definitive end to the process.An ombudsman sided with Leonardo and asked for the suspension to be annulled, saying: "A registered sporting federation is only authorised to impose disciplinary sanctions against licensed members of the federation," repeating the council of state's findings from April.Last month the council of state ruled the FFF did not have the power to suspend someone who was not a licensed member of the federation.The administrative court is expected to return a final verdict "within a fortnight".Leonardo was originally handed a nine-month ban after his shove on referee Alexandre Castro, which was caught on camera, following PSG's 1-1 draw at home to Valenciennes on May 5 of last year.That was extended to 14 months after the Brazilian appealed to the French Football Federation (FFF).
