Pompey is too early for McCann

Chris McCann is one of three Burnley players on their way back to fitness but for him, and for Graham Alexander and Steven Caldwell, the game against Portsmouth will come too soon. Caldwell hasn't played since the defeat at Wolves in December whilst both McCann and Alexander suffered early injuries in the game at Bolton four weeks ago.McCann is the closest to returning and manager Brian Laws admitted that he was disappointed to see last week's reserve game called off. McCann was in the side and would have played 45 minutes ahead of the game at Villa Park. The postponement put paid to that and again this week the chance to give Chris some reserve team action has been ruled out with tonight's game against Manchester City reserves put back to next Monday.Laws said: "We're still slightly behind with McCann. We're hoping to get in a reserve game next week, which would be very pleasing. We're hoping he's available soon, but it won't be this weekend."
