Cherries: Rolls keen to extend Dean Court stay

LUCKY charm Rhoys Wiggins expressed his affinity for Cherries and then admitted he would jump at the chance to extend his Dean Court stay. A star of Cherries' Great Escape last season, the talented left-back has again made a positive impact since joining the club on an emergency 28-day loan. He is set to face Barnet tonight at Dean Court (7.45pm) in the final game of his loan period. But with boss Eddie Howe revealing the extent of Cherries' player shortage, the club could seek an extension to the Norwich City player's loan deal. And that is something the cultured defender would love to happen. He told the Echo: I'm not sure whether it can happen with the transfer embargo. I'll just have to wait and see what Eddie says. Fingers crossed. It's a good club so, hopefully, it can get done. I like playing under Eddie and Jason and I like playing with this group of players as well. We'd have to find out whether Norwich would let it happen as well first, but if the chance was there, I'd jump at it. Having helped Cherries miraculously dodge the drop last term, Wiggins has enjoyed a decent record during his latest spell in Dorset. In his six games to date, Cherries have lost just once, although home draws against Cheltenham and Macclesfield put a dampener on the fine wins over Crewe, Rotherham and Notts County. The 22-year-old said: It's a shame we dropped a couple of points at home against Cheltenham and Macclesfield teams we were maybe expected to beat but they came here and made it difficult. I think my win ratio is quite good down here that's always nice to know! I've just enjoyed my time down here and enjoyed playing for the club. Former Crystal Palace man Wiggins revealed the management of Howe was a key reason behind his willingness to remain with Cherries. He added: He takes a lot of time with individuals and improves you as an individual as well as a team player. He gets everyone together and the team spirit is brilliant. I can't speak highly enough of him. When asked what Wiggins has brought to his squad, Howe said: I think he's been excellent and done really well for us in every game.
