Alex McLeish wants to add a defender and a striker to his Birmingham squad before the transfer window closes and knows the fans are still not convinced by his side's promotion push. The Birmingham manager introduced three loan signings against Cardiff and one of them, West Ham'sLee Bowyer, snatched an equaliser in added time. 'I am hoping to bring a couple of players in to strengthen the squad and, hopefully, the late goal will kick-start many players' form.' Joe Ledley Bowyer's Birmingham deal may become permanent if they go up, and he said: 'We have made up a point on Reading and, if we win our game in hand, we will be in second place with things in our own hands. 'It is not easy when you have so many people making debuts.'
