From Kharine to Kanchelskis: Sportsmail's guide to the players who came from Russia with love

New star: Arshavin arrivesAndrei Arshavin yesterday became the latest Russian to move to the Barclays Premier League after joining Arsenal in a £12million move. Arshavin made his name playing for club Zenit St Petersburg and also for his country.   Here Sportsmail looks at other Russians who have played in England and Scotland.  SERGEI BALTACHA   Although born in the Ukraine, Sergei Baltacha regards himself as Russian. Baltacha won 47 caps for the Soviet Union and played for Dynamo Kiev before moving to Ipswich in 1988.   He was the first Soviet international to play in the Football League and later made his way to the Scottish league where he played for St Johnstone and briefly managed Inverness. Elena is now Britain's No 2 rated women's tennis player Tennis star: Elena Baltacha, daughter of Sergei, the first Soviet footballer to play in the UKANDREI KANCHELSKIS   Kanchelskis had spells at Dynamo Kiev and Shakhtar Donetsk before joining Manchester Unitedin 1991. He helped United win the first Premier League title and became a key man before leaving in 1995 for Everton. He moved on to Fiorentina before joining Rangers in 1998.  Wing wizard: Andrei Kanchelskis High five: Oleg Salenko OLEG SALENKO   Salenko played for Zenit Leningrad, Dynamo Kiev and Valencia before signing for Rangers following the 1994 World Cup. Salenko had scored five goals in one game for Russia at the World Cup, against Cameroon, but he only stayed at Ibrox for one season and was a failure in Scotland before moving on to Turkish side Istanbulspor.   DMITRI KHARINE   Goalkeeper Kharine joined Chelsea from CSKA Moscow in 1992 and spent seven years at Stamford Bridge before moving on to Celtic. Played for the Blues in the 1994 FA Cup final but it was a day to forget as Chelsea lost 4-0 to Manchester United. Left Celtic after making just a handful of appearances and has since worked as a goalkeeping coach at Luton.  Chelsea keeper: Dmitri Kharine Millwall man: Sergei Yuran SERGEI YURAN   The former Dynamo Kiev, Benfica, Porto and Spartak Moscow striker joined Millwall in 1996. It was a move which did not work out for either party, with Yuran scoring just once for the London club. He soon moved on, reviving his career in Germany with Fortuna Dusseldorf and Bochum.
