Is Anita Now Ready For The Premier League?

Alan Pardew has backed Vurnon Anita through thick and thin, as you would expect, because the Toon boss paid Ajax Amsterdam £6.7m for him. But he has been a slow burner - and rarely showen us anything to get excited about. However, Anita’s substitute performance against Chelsea has given the Toon Army a reminder that the Holland international CAN move the ball forward - rather than the usual sideways or backwards. He was at fault for Yaya Torres goal in the opening game of the season when he ducked when the City star aimed his lofted free-kick at the Newcastle wall. And being so small, he is a player who doesn't like flying boots in the middle of the park and rarely holds onto the ball for long periods, prefering to move it on as quick as possible. Rarely does he get caught in possession . simply because he doesn't hold the ball that much. But the 24-year-old midfielder, signed from Ajax last year, impressed after coming off the bench on Saturday. He set up United’s second goal, scored by Remy, with a superb piece of skill.
