Laws calls for change in attitude

The Clarets have been undermined throughout their maiden Premier League campaign by their performances on the road. The East Lancashire side have still collected just one point away from Turf Moor and are sitting uncomfortably in the relegation zone with 13 games remaining.Laws, who took charge last month, used his side's elimination from the FA Cup to take the players away for some warm-weather training last week and he hopes the change will have done them good. The first test of that will come on Sunday as Burnley face a tricky trip to Champions League hopefuls Aston Villa.Laws said: "If you are not mentally strong the good sides will expose you and rip you apart."The Premier League is a very cruel place to be and you get exposed if you have a weakness."It is quite understandable the players' mindset is wrong because they have not had any joy away from home."They have got to keep themselves motivated and keep going away from home."Looking at the other teams that have suffered in these circumstances, they stayed motivated and kept going and going."Eventually they broke their duck and we will do the same."There is no question about it, before the end of the season we will get some points on the board."You have got to have that belief it is going to come."And Laws sees no reason why that should not happen at Villa Park.Burnley have slipped into the bottom after losing five of their last six games but Villa's recent form is not brilliant either.Martin O'Neill's men, who play in the Carling Cup final next weekend, have won just one in seven and scored three goals along the way.Laws said: "There is no point getting on the bus if you don't believe you can get a win."You might as well go and hand the points to Aston Villa."Do I want to do that? No. I want to have a go at them."Nobody is expecting us to get a result other than ourselves."If it doesn't happen on Sunday, it will happen somewhere else. That is the mindset we have got to have."Burnley expect to have defender Leon Cort available after a groin injury but veteran Graham Alexander is rated only 50-50 after three weeks out with a calf problem.
