Hughes hit with six-match ban

Hibs boss Hughes saw red in Wednesday night's Scottish Premier League defeat at McDiarmid Park for his reaction to what he felt was a foul on defender Paul Hanlon in the build-up to Saints' fourth goal. The SFA take into account managers' conduct over the previous two seasons when issuing touchline bans, and Hughes had two run-ins with officials during that period while in charge at Falkirk.Should Hughes elect not to appeal his suspension - which includes cup games - it will kick in for the March 6 SPL game against Kilmarnock and will end after the scheduled April 3 clash with Celtic. The SFA also confirmed striker Colin Nish will serve a three-match ban for his sending off in the same game.Nish was dismissed for kicking out at Saints defender Michael Duberry and will sit out Saturday's trip to Motherwell. He will also miss the SPL game against Kilmarnock and the March 20 Edinburgh derby. However, due to the vagaries of the SFA's disciplinary rules, he will be available for next weekend's league game with St Johnstone and the Active Nation Scottish Cup quarter-final with Ross County on March 13.
