Motherwell V Partick - view commentary, squad, and statistics of the game live.McCall still hunting for widthMotherwell have ruled out a move for Celtic youngster Dylan McGeouch - but boss Stuart McCall still hopes to add a right-sided winger to his squad. The Fir Park club have been linked with a loan bid for the 20-year-old Hoops playmaker. But McCall is desperate to find a pacey wideman to balance off his team and admits that Scotland Under-21 international McGeouch's preference for playing through the middle means a switch is unlikely. He said: "Dylan is a player that I'm led to believe Celtic will look, possibly, to loan out. He is a very good player. But, again, I'm led to believe probably does not want to play out-and-out right wing and that it is not his best position."That is the place in the team that we are really looking for so as much as I rate him, I don't want to bring anyone to the club for a position that they are not really keen on."McCall has been thwarted in a number of attempts so far this summer to fill the void on the right side of his midfield left after Jamaican international Chris Humphrey departed for Preston. However, with more than a week left until the transfer window shuts, he is not panicking yet."Bringing in a wide player is proving difficult," admitted the Steelmen manager. "We have had five or six players in over the last two months on trial, who for whatever reason have not really been what we are after."In the last 10 days we have had three lads targeted from English clubs to come up on loan. One decided at the last minute that Scotland wasn't for him at this time in his career. With the second it was a financial issue where we just couldn't pay what the club was after, the third did not happen because he has to come up window to window and his club was worried that if he failed to settle or get into the team, we would not be able to send him back."So they are the little stumbling blocks we have faced but we are still hopeful of managing to get someone in. But it has to be someone who will improve us, not just someone for the sake of it."Motherwell will have to go with the squad they have as they take on Scottish Premiership new boys Partick Thistle at home on Saturday.Meanwhile, Partick winger Steven Lawless wants to prove a point when he returns to his former club but insists that desire is fuelled with ambition rather than antagonism. The winger scored on his only start for the Steelmen, a 4-0 League Cup win at Clyde in August 2011, and his only other first-team game was off the bench against Queen's Park in a Scottish Cup win later that season. The 22-year-old hit 14 goals for Partick last term, form that prompted Dutch side Willem II to bid for him last month, and has already struck twice this season in Thistle's 3-1 win at Ross County.Breaking into Motherwell's successful team proved difficult and he spent much of his senior years while a Fir Park player on loan to Albion Rovers, where he caught the eyes of the Jags last summer."I kind of have a point to prove but not in a bad way," said Lawless."I am just really looking forward to playing at Fir Park in the top flight, hopefully get a goal or two and get the three points."It was really good at Motherwell. I have nothing bad to say about them but obviously when the fixture list came out this is the one I was looking to most. I am really looking forward to it."I was in the Motherwell team early in the season but Chris Humphrey was on fire that year so I couldn't really complain because they were doing really well."I couldn't go in and chap the door and say I wanted in the team."I would have needed to wait on someone picking up an injury but you can't justify that."But I always felt I could play in this division so that is what I am trying to prove just now."Full-back Jordan McMillan remains on the sidelines for the game.McMillan is still struggling with the ankle knock that has kept him out so far this season.Midfielder Sean Welsh will also miss out with a dead leg.
