Ribery warns Bayern Munich he will quit if they fail in Champions League

Ribery: Eyeing European gloryFranck Ribery has warned he will almost certainly quit Bayern Munich if they can't see off Fiorentina in the Champions League. Ribery is desperate to win Europe's top prize and Barcelona hope to tie up a deal to make him their replacement for ThierryHenry.TheChampions League holders have stepped up their interest in the Francestar in a bid to see off interest from Chelsea and Real Madrid. Bayern resisted all-comers last summer, but admit they will have to cash in at the end of the season if the 26-year-old does not sign a new contract in the next few weeks. Ribery, who would be a free agent in 17 months, said: 'Our result in the Champions League will of course play a part in my decision. For me, footballing potential is the most important thing. 'Seeing how the team is playing, we've got every chance in the Champions League. 'Our squad isn't quite as good as Barcelona or Real but when everyone is on form, the 11 on the pitch are top class.'   Roman Abramovich is keen to see Ribery at Stamford Bridge and will happily fund a big-money move, though there are plenty of suitors for the left winger. Manchester United considered him after selling Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid last summer, but there are doubts whether they could still fund a move. Real Madrid are sure to enter the bidding, which is likely to open at about £30million - significantly lower than last summer because there will only be 12 months left on his contract. Despite confidence within the Allianz Arena, it looks increasingly unlikely that the former Marseille star will sign a new contract at the Bundesliga giants after insisting sporting considerations were more important than money.   Come and get me: £15m Luis Fabiano puts Man City and Chelsea on red alertMan United and Chelsea target Ribery opens door to Premier League moveMANCHESTER UNITED FC
