Kieron Dyer Has 'Called It A Day'

Former Newcastle midfielder Kieron Dyer is set to retire from professional football this summer, having been released by Middlesbrough. Injury-prone Dyer started at Ipswich and went on to play for England, Newcastle, West Ham, QPR and finally Boro during the second half of last season. He moved to Newcastle for £6.5 million in the summer of 1999, and he broke into the England team while at St James’s Park and went on to win 33 caps, featuring in the 2002 World Cup as a sub on three occasions and briefly at Euro 2004. However, Dyer’s career was hampered by a succession of injuries, and although his fabulous ability was never really in doubt, his career could have been far better. Source: Newcastle United Mad
