O'Grady Signs!!!

Striker pens two-year deal. The news Barnsley supporters have been waiting for since the 4th May was finally announced today as Chris O’Grady signed a two-year contract at Oakwell. The 27 year old was a revelation for The Reds for the second half of the 2012-2013 season when he joined on loan from Sheffield Wednesday, scoring six times in 16 appearances including crucial strikes against Hull and Huddersfield in the final two games of the season to secure survival. The former Rochdale striker was manager David Flitcroft’s number one summer target and now finally he has captured his man for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £300,000. If that is true it means The Reds have spent around £550,000 so far this summer after signing winger Dale Jennings from Bayern Munich for £250,000 yesterday. O’Grady told the club’s official website: “It’s been a bit of a journey from the end of last season to get to this point, but I am delighted to have signed and I’m looking forward to pre-season training. "The signing this week of Dale Jennings and myself shows the club are doing the right things and looking to give this season a good push. “I’m looking to continue where I left off last season and get goals. I’ll set some short-term targets, attain them and then set some more. “Last season I was determined to give everything from the first minute and happily the fans here took to me and that spurred me on to do well for them. “We know what we can do if we perform and if we can repeat our form of 2013 then we can achieve what we want to.” Source: TykesMAD
