Douglas Would Fit The Bill For 'Bargain Bucket' Ashley

Rumours that Alan Pardew is back in for FC Twente's Douglas are a touch one-sided. Although Pardew tried to sign the defender last summer - and Mike Ashley wouldn't put up the cash - there has been no indication he is back on his trail this transfer window. But Douglas is available on a free transfer at the end of the month when his FC Twente contract expires . which is the sort of deal Ashley likes. We all know Pardew is looking to recruit a centre-half this summer, but is this the man for him?  The 25-year-old claims Newcastle is the team he wants to join.
