Cherries: Howe wants more of the same

BOSS Eddie Howe is targeting a repeat performance as Cherries bid to heap more misery on faltering Dagenham & Redbridge. Howe described Cherries' first-half showing against Notts County in midweek as some of the best football we had played all season. Victory over the Magpies helped Cherries consolidate second place in League Two while Daggers' reverse at Rotherham on Tuesday saw their spectacular decline continue. In the space of 24 days, the east Londoners have plummeted from third to 12th following four successive defeats and have also failed to score for fast approaching six hours. However, despite the Daggers' current predicament, Howe knows Cherries must maintain their high standards if they are to avoid another slip-up. He told the Daily Echo: We are under no illusions and it's going to be a tough game, regardless of what form they are in. They have their own style and are a difficult team to play. As we know only too well ourselves, if performances dip ever so slightly, you can get punished and can end up going on a run of games without a win. It can also change very quickly the other way, as we have found recently, so we just have to make sure we match the levels we showed against Notts County. Defender Jason Pearce will be hoping to skipper Cherries to a third successive away victory after breaking his home duck as captain in midweek. Pearce said: I was as delighted as all the other lads. We knew we owed the supporters a performance at home and felt we gave them one. The league is so tight and it was a huge result. Now we need to build on it at Dagenham. We can go there with confidence having taken 10 points from our past four games. They have slipped a bit recently and we don't want that to change. We want to try to keep our run going. In Paul Benson, they have a good goalscorer so we will need to keep tabs on him. Cherries have no fresh injury concerns ahead of their trip to the capital, while boss Howe is also unlikely to welcome back any of his walking wounded.
