Mark Halsey in charge at Vicarage Rd

The hugely experienced Premier League referee Mark Halsey takes charge of Watford v Cardiff. He will be assisted by Matthew Wilkes and Michael McDonough. The Fourth Official is Lee Collins. Mark Halsey's first game of this season was Cardiff's 0 - 0 draw at Brighton. If his last game in charge of the Bluebirds this campaign ends the same way at Watford I don't there'll be many City fans unhappy with that outcome. At Christmas he was in charge of City 1 - 0 Millwall. Halsey has a long history and we can find him in charge of City games back as far as 1997. That was a Football League Trophy defeat at home to Millwall but soon after in early 1998 he was in charge of Cardiff 7 - 1 Doncaster. He has overcome a cancerous tumour in his throat and is respected as one of the countries top referees. This season in 26 games he's issued 47 yellow cards and 3 red. Source: Cardiff City Online
