Coyle backing for starlet Wilshere

Arsene Wenger is clearly a disciple of Coyle's brand of passing football, having initially signalled an intention to let Wilshere move to Burnley on loan last month before eventually doing a deal with Bolton after the Scot moved into the Reebok Stadium hot-seat.Big things have been expected of Wilshere for quite some time, to the extent that, at one stage, he was tipped as a possible inclusion in Fabio Capello's World Cup squad. That talk has been silenced somewhat over the past few weeks. But, on last night's evidence, when Wilshere turned in an eye-catching display in Bolton's 2-0 defeat at Manchester City, Coyle feels it is only a matter of time before the 18-year-old is pulling on the Three Lions."We are always saying we want the best young English players playing, so they can play for their national team and represent their country well," said Coyle."In Jack Wilshere there is one for the future, no doubt a big future."He has such a fantastic level of composure, which all goes well, not just for us, but also for English football."Although Wilshere tired towards the end of what was his first Premier League start, he had made a significant impact with his close control and ability to pick out team-mates in space. But it was another aspect of the teenagers play that made Coyle smile as Wilshere went toe-to-toe with former Arsenal skipper Patrick Vieira in midfield."There was obviously a height difference with Vieira but he went into a tackle with him after two minutes and set his marker down," Coyle enthused."I was delighted with him. He covered every blade of grass and looked so accomplished on the ball."He is a gifted individual. He is clever, he is bright. He has a football brain."Asking such a young player, who has made so few first-team appearances, would normally be viewed as being counter-productive in the relegation fight Bolton are presently embroiled in.Coyle does not see it that way. He actually thinks Wilshere can bring a major of assurance to an undeniably hazardous situation."He didn't look fazed against City and we were needing points then, just as we will next week," he said."He is just a very good footballer who loves getting on the ball."He brings another facet to our play, which can only help us in the long run."Coyle may not get the opportunity to put his theory into practice given Wilshere is due back at the Emirates next season, but ultimately, the Bolton manager feels the Stevenage-born player's best position will be in central midfield.Wilshere presently has a wider brief. But even there, it is easy to spot a class act."He is not an out-and-out winger who takes two or three people on," said Coyle."He has pace and he sees a pass and as time goes on he will become a central midfielder."He is a lovely young kid and I have no doubts he will go from strength to strength."
