Mihadjuks moves to Tannadice

The 29-year-old Latvian centre-half has penned a short-term contract until the end of the season.Mihadjuks, who spent the second half of last term with Caley Thistle, was available outside the transfer window after his deal with FK Ventspils expired at the end of 2009.He arrives at Tannadice with United having suffered a number of defensive injuries recently.Manager Peter Houston told his club's official website: "I've been aware of this player and his availability for some time, particularly after he impressed in his short time with Inverness Caley."Pavels is a quality defender with real presence and when it became apparent over the weekend that injuries were going to leave us short defensively, I moved quickly to secure his services until the end of the season."This will not only provide us with immediate and quality cover, but will also allow us, and Pavels, time to see whether this short-term deal should be extended beyond then."Assuming all the necessary clearances come through on time, Pavels will go straight into the squad for Wednesday night's game against Hamilton."Mihadjuks' signing came on the same day Houston confirmed he would be without Paul Dixon for at least two weeks after the left-back suffered a recurrence of knee ligament damage in Saturday's Scottish Cup win at St Johnstone.Mihael Kovacevic was already sidelined because of a broken nose which left Sean Dillon as United's only recognised full-back for the Scottish Premier League game with Hamilton.
