Gradi: Crewe lacked the quality

Chris O'Grady's early strike and an own goal from Mark Tootle sealed all three points for Dale, who successfully bounced back from Monday's defeat by Bury. And Gradi, who lost Calvin Zola to injury after two minutes, said: "It wasn't a good afternoon for us. The boys stuck at it but we couldn't produce the kind of quality we are capable of."Rochdale strung moves together better than we did and we gave the ball away more than they did."The circumstances didn't help us, losing Calvin Zola in the opening minutes. We were unfortunate with that injury and then we might have had a penalty (when Scott Wiseman fouled Byron Moore)."The own goal straight after half-time didn't help either. It was always going to be difficult for us, and while we stuck at it and might have had a goal, I don't think we played well enough to get anything out of the game."Their strikers gave our defenders a hard time all afternoon and our centre halves have got to do better."
