Clough bemoans wasteful finishing

Nigel Clough lamented Derby's failure to finish off chances following the 1-1 draw at Sheffield United. Robbie Savage appeared to have secured back-to-back league wins for the Rams when he swept home a low shot from outside the penalty area in the 17th minute. But Lee Williamson struck a controversial stoppage-time leveller when he slammed home a cross from Mark Yeates after the referee had failed to see Clough's attempts to send on substitute Russell Anderson. "A couple of things cost us," admitted Clough. "And one of them was failing to get that second goal. We were comfortable and should have been two or three up by the time that (the equaliser) went in. "We had plenty of opportunities to begin with and should have been out of sight. But, overall, I thought our performance was excellent. "The front two led the line exceptionally well and everything else went from there. That set the platform."
