South Africa rule out injured midfielders

Injured South Africa midfielders Kagisho Dikgacoi and Lerato Chabangu have been ruled out of the Africa Cup of Nations Group A fixture against Angola in Durban Wednesday.Dikgacoi from English second-tier club Crystal Palace started in the 0-0 draw against Cape Verde Islands last Saturday only to be taken off at half-time after making little impression. He has a recurring knee injury while Chabangu from Soweto outfit Moroka Swallows, who came on in the second half at Soccer City, is suffering from a painful groin.Dean Furman from third-tier English club Oldham Athletic is expected to replace Dikgacoi in a defensive midfield role as Bafana Bafana (The Boys) look to kick-start their campaign after a woeful start.South Africa coach Gordon Igesund is set to make at least two changes with striker Katlego Mphela favoured to come in for Lehlohonolo Majoro and some pundits believe off-form wide man Siphiwe Tshabalala should be dropped.Angola and Morocco also played out a goalless draw in the second half of the Soweto double-header, leaving all four contenders on one point with two rounds to come and two quarter-finals places up for grabs.
