News round-up

Few things have been happening in Saints land over the last few days, so here's a quick look at what has been going on but hasn't been worthy of an article all of its own. Admittedly, the under-20s usually get a news piece but I was too busy to write one. Their winter break ended on Monday and they returned to action with a win, defeating Dundee 1-0 thanks to a goal from Jon Scullion. New signing Conor Newton was given a run out and impressed. Polish striker Patryk Mikita has apparently been doing well on trial as Saints assess the possibility of bringing him on loan from Legia Warsaw. Manager Danny Lennon has revealed he'll make a decision on the player at the start of next week, with the indications so far suggesting he'll be signed up - despite not speaking any English! Today's Paisley Daily Express reports that Kenny McLean may miss next week's League Cup semi-final against Celtic. The midfielder - who has been linked with a move away from the club during the transfer window - underwent surgery just before the break and was only expected to be missing for a few weeks. However, it has emerged he won't be fit enough for Saturday's game against Ross County and is also a doubt for a trip to Hampden. Finally, John McGinn has missed out on a place in the Scotland under-19 squad for their friendly against Holland - despite being involved in their recent training camp in Turkey. Nope, I don't understand that one either!
