15.00 Afternoon liveblog fans.
After an upset that didn't feel like an upset and two games featuring four
Premier League games (in total) we have, at last, arrived at the most
tradtionally Cup Tie-ish of all of this weekend's cup ties.
Small ground: check. Large disparity in league positions: check. Interesting
back story about the host club: check.
Upset potential: check. Mansfield town: check. Liverpool: check. Daniel
Sturridge: cheque.
Liverpool's expensive new striker is expected to play a part today against the
Conference side.
Mansfield are going reasonable guns on the fifth stage of the League pyramid.
They're ninth in the Conference, six points off a play-off place, and have
only beaten fellow non-league oppositon (Slough and Lincoln) to make the
third round.
Surely we are not going to have to settle for a couple of Championship clubs
going out for our requisite dose of Third Round Shocks?
Surely Liverpool are more interested in winning the Europa League and
qualifying for it again next season than this competition?
Surely this is Mansfield's time to shine?
I'm not convinced, but I am hopeful.
Team news and Ronnie Radford .gifs to follow, stay tuned.
