Friday night football

Saints will have their first taste of Friday night football next month when they take on Motherwell at Greenhill Road a few days before Christmas. The game originally set down for Saturday, December 22 has now been brought forward to the Friday night. The reason - and I'm not making this up - is to allow people to do some Christmas shopping on the Saturday. Unsurprisingly the switch has already been criticised by Saints fans, some of whom have pointed out they go to the football to get out of said shopping! Others have are due to go on works' night out with it being the last Friday before Christmas. With that in mind it's a surprise the police have agreed to a game being held on what is known as "Black Eye Friday". It's not the only game moved either as the home game against Ross County will now kick-off at 12.45pm on Saturday, January 19 so it can be shown on Sky. It seems an odd choice but someone at the TV company must be hoping for a repeat of September's 5-4 thriller.
