Hard Work Brings Rewards

Celtic showed last night that a team effort can deliver the right results. I think it would be fair to say that Celtic's win last night over Barcelona would be considered a surprise result by the wider football world . Even the most fervent Celtic fans heading to Parkhead would have been hoping to be leaving with a draw at best. However, Neil Lennon's side managed to score twice and defend well in a game where possession stats show 64/36% in favour of the visitors. It is not how much possession you have, it is what you do with the ball to hurt the opposition that counts. Celtic will have known they would be without the ball most of the time and would have been working on set pieces to make the most of their chances. This was confirmed by goal-hero Victor Wanyama who scored the opening goal from a corner. Substitute Tony Watt scored a second before Lionel Messi found the net from close range to record a late consolation for Barcelona, but Celtic held on for an impressive win. Wanyama, who impressed throughout the game, was thrilled with the result and felt their hard work with set-pieces paid off with his opening goal. He said: "This is unbelievable, Today we just worked hard, we were good as a team, compact and got the three points. We're very happy. I can't describe it - we're very, very glad. It's unreal. We beat one of the best teams in the world. It was not easy and we're just happy. It's always important when you're playing this team to keep the ball and today we were very good, calm with the ball. That kept us in the game - we were good on the ball and believed in ourselves. We got the first goal, which was very important and gave us energy to go on. We've been working hard at set pieces and knew we'd get one. We did it well. I'm happy for the team, we did well. It's too early (to say if we'll qualify for the knockout stage), we just need to keep doing the same. If we do the same and get results, we're going to be there." Source: ScottishFitba
