Jewell hopes to extend Higgy deal

Ipswich Town manager Paul Jewell remains hopeful that Stoke City defender Danny Higginbotham will extend his loan stay at Portman Road. The 33-year-old is scheduled to end his one-month loan from Stoke after next Tuesday's Championship clash with Derby. Town have already made contact with Stoke over extending the deal and Jewell believes the prospect of regular action for the defender could work in his favour. "We are hopeful that we will be able to keep Danny," Jewell said. "He's come here to play football and he's doing that. He's enjoying it here and I've told him we want him to stay."We're in conversation with Stoke and we will see how things work out but we are certainly hopeful that he will be remaining with us, ideally for the maximum three months."
