Newcastle: Ten January Transfers That Could Happen

With the January Transfer window looming – certain rumours have been thrown around since the beginning of the 12/13 season. Here I will take a look at the top 5 potential 'comings and goings' of the 'top 6' that will affect The Barclays Premier League. With only £58,000,000 spent in The British Transfer Market last January – it is fair to say that compared to the summer window, top flight managers are much more reluctant to spend. That said – with such success stories like Papiss Cisse and Nikica Jelavic people may wonder why managers do not spend? Of course, the likes of big spenders Manchester City and Chelsea are in the latter stages of assmebling their squads to challenge domestically and on the continent. In this article – I will look at transfer rumours surrounding teams in The Barclays Premier League. The potential comings and goings and reasons behind the move.Newcastle Coming In:Seydou DoumbiaAnother Ivorian at St James' Park will be wonderful news to the Newcastle faithful. The £16,000,000 rated forward Seydou Doumbia could be on his way to Newcastle this January as ANOTHER possible replacement for Demba Ba. Although Padrew would prefer Doumbia to play with Ba and Cisse, the likelyhood of club owner Mike Ashley handing over that kind of money is preposterous. If Demba Ba leaves in January due to his wages and left wing conundrum – the sale could bring in funds for Doumbia, who scored 26 goals for Russian Club CSKA Moscow last season.Mathieu DebuchyHaving had an impressive EURO 2012 – Debuchy was linked with a move to Newcastle to join up with French internation team mates, Yohan Cabaye and Hatem Ben Arfa. His current club though, Lille, have already rejected two bids from Newcastle for there right back – but has promised Debuchy that if they fail to make The Champions League, he will be allowed to go. Padrew is still after his man – to fill in at right back for his side. He said: “I am pretty happy with the squad. But if we do go into the markey again – it will for just one player.”Andy CarrollSince his £35,000,000 to Liverpool – Carroll has yet to rediscover the form he showed at Newcastle. Carroll was scoring goals for fun in the North East – but since his move to Merseyside, and the introduction of Brendan Rodgers, Carroll has failed to live up to his price tag – and has been loaned to West Ham. Newcastle where also linked with the Geordie, and a return home may be appealing to Carroll – although he may struggle getting back into the side ahead of Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse. January could be a big month for Carroll – he may return to Liverpool, stay at West Ham or move back to Newcastle.Tom InceAlthough linked with a move to Manchester United – Tom Ince may see himself getting more playing time up at Newcastle. Padrew has been rumoured to already have had a bid rejected by Blackpool at around £4,000,000. Ince's contract at Blackpool runs out in 2013 – and the young start seems destined for Barclays Premier League Football. Either with Blackpool via promotion or with Newcastle, or Manchester United, if either club sign the young, goal scoring winger in January. Padrew seemed to spend the summer window preventing his big name players from leaving the club – now that January is amongst us, he will be eager to cement his teams position in the league with signing young players.Charlie AustinCharlie Austin is currently the top scorer in the country after netting 15 goals in 12 games for Championship side Burnley. Austin's performances have firmly established him as one of the leading goal scorers in the coutnry outside the Barlcays Premier League – and Magpies boss Alan Padrew is thought to be a long term admirer of Austin. Another player who has been linked to Newcastle due to the uncertainty of Demba Ba. Austin is young – and would be a gamble for Newcastle. Yet with 15 goals already this season, playing for Burnely – Austin may be worth the gamble.Going out:Demba Ba
